When I was reassembling my Mac Mini, the top HD seemed to just flop on there and I was concerned it wasn't going to really be secured by anything. Even worse, it seemed like my 2 HD-to-logic-board cables were going to be pinched when the top HD got installed! Then I realized if you tip your Mac Mini sideways (pretend its a book and stand it on it's 'spine'), gravity will pull the hard drive locating pins into the 2 grommets, and you'll realize the top HD actually sits a fair bit higher than it appears, and there shouldn't be much risk of cable pinching when finished. [see next comment]. I also used a special guide I found on the web that uses CoreStorage commands to make a Fusion drive out of the factory HD 'Macintosh HD' PARTITION and not the entire DISK. (Something like disk2s2 instead of just disk2). That way, my factory HD actually keeps it's 650MB RECOVERY HD which allows you to still do rescue/recovery stuff just like factory.

I did this and tried to re-install the Fusion Drive, which requires a special version of OS X, but failed several times and gave up in the end. Instead I configured my Mac Mini with a 500 GB SSD primary drive and a 1 TB HD as a secondary, but of course you could put two separate up to 4 TB SSDs in the two slots, depending on your needs and how much you want to spend. No doubt, putting all your system and application files on a SSD is the best and cheapest way to dramatically improve overall speed. Putting data on the SSD has less effect because most data aren’t that big or speed sensitive (photos and video excepted).
Insert the Mac Mini Logic Board Removal Tool into the two holes highlighted in red. Be sure it makes contact with the top side of outer case below the logic board before proceeding. Pre-2010 Mac Mini models support a single Serial ATA drive with speeds of 3 GB/s. I also recommend picking up a can of compressed air to clean out the dust that has built up throughout the years.

Just trying to be careful before I tear down my Mini and install the drive!:) Thanks in advance for your advice! 1) Since you’ve already restored the HDD contents to your SSD, you do not need to worry about installing the drive into your Mac Mini. 2) It will not matter which bay the SSD is in 3) There are a few avenues to accomplish this. I go in depth in how I did it myself.
Later models are different, but the 2012 is an easy upgrade. All the cables and screws are already there. You just need to move them from the old drives to the new ones. 
VirtualBox is capable of installing a macOS on your computer as an application. It works perfectly well with Sierra and in order to run macOS on windows, you need a computer with windows that has to be 64-bit, at least 4GB RAM and a dual-core processor. Mac os high sierra image virtualbox.
