If you’re looking for something else, I’d advise signing up for a free trial and exploring the program to see if it can do what you need. (Actually, I’d highly recommend doing that in any case.) When you’ve communicated with Xero’s support staff, do you know whether you’ve communicated with support or sales? My experience has been that the support people are often much better informed than the sales people. If you’ve just talked with sales, I’d recommend trying support (use the email listed in the review).

When I spoke with a representative, I was told “there should be no reason to create a JE to cash.” This is typically true, but there are times when I need to and it makes my life a lot easier. I have a list quite long of similar to this and what I got the census is that Xero is made more for business owners in that it prevents manipulating transactions (mistakenly or purposely), but this causes a lot of irritation for accountants on simple tasks. If I enter a date wrong on a bill that’s been paid, I can’t just edit it, I have to delete the bill payment and then the bill and redo it. My bank doesn’t sync with Xero so I have to manually enter transactions and my most irritating issue in Xero is that it doesn’t have auto-recall for vendor transactions, so I have to reference a print-out of what vendors go to which account. I’ve had to find work arounds for things I do in one step in QuickBooks online.
According to WFM’s website, payments recorded in Xero will show up in WFM–did you not find that to be the case? We evaluated them and Simpelpay and found PE to be MUCH simpler to use. The payroll integration with Xero sends draft invoices – it would be nice to see deeper integration but I suspect Xero doesn’t allow that in their API. PE was also inexpensive and their new business payments integration with Xero allows us to pay our vendors electronically in seconds.
